Artist Bio: Dale Berkebile

I have always been creative, but once I started painting I was hooked and knew this is one way I can bring more beauty to the world!

I use acrylic paints for my most expressive works and sumi ink for my calligraphy work. My artwork started as a meditative and spiritual practice tied to my walk with Buddhist philosophy.

I am from Fort Worth, Texas.

Constantly seeking self-care practices and ways to live my most mindful life led me to painting. First through painting the ensō and copying the Heart Sutra, very much aligned with my daily practices, then I moved into acrylic painting. This started with painting manifestations of Green Tara.

I grew up drawing all the time as a kid.

In school, I took as many art classes as my schools would allow. Then, I went off to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh getting a degree in graphic design with a minor in illustration.

I got into advertising after school and in 1999 I started my own design and marketing firm which I still run today.

I painted my ensō work for several years and officially started painting with acrylics in October of 2023.

I explore a few different styles –

  • the Asian Buddhist-influenced work tied to my Buddhist and meditation practice,
  • intuitive painting that is really just following my gut and intuition,
  • and recently a more impressionistic approach as I get back into studying art history a bit.

My purpose in life is to challenge people to become innovative leaders so that we can change the world together.

What I realized through my journey in life is art and my paintings are one way I can add beauty to the work.

My goal is to also help make creativity and art more accessible to kids and adults.

It seems we neglect and really shut down creativity in schools and in our personal lives. We fear judgments and I want to create a judgement-free space and inspire people to do more art and painting.

So are you ready to paint?
